Our Physiotherapy Services

  • Electro-Muscle Stimulation: This safe form of electrical current is administered at the site of injury, especially muscles, to alleviate pain. It is recommended in cases in which pain is accompanied by swelling, inflammation and muscle spasms.
  • Intersegmental Traction: This therapy helps stretch spinal joints to increase mobility. Discs have a poor blood supply, so they get their nutrients from the fluids that circulate around spinal joints. If joints are “stuck,” the nutrients can’t reach the discs, and degeneration can result. Traction helps restore motion to the spine, so the discs can heal.
  • Trigger Point Therapy: Trigger points or “knots” are areas within the muscles that are tight and tender to the touch. This restricts normal motion, weakens the muscle and may refer pain to other parts of the body. Using our hands, we can locate tight and tender trigger points, and then use a vibracussor to gently massage the area to promote normal range of motion and faster healing.
  • Therapeutic Ultrasound: This therapy uses high-frequency sound waves to penetrate affected tissues deep in the body. The sound waves create heat and vibration, which facilitate healing by breaking up and removing toxins and accumulated deposits.
  • Whole Body Vibration Therapy: Patients stand on a vibrating platform while performing specific exercises to increase strength, range of motion and balance. Most sessions last between five to ten minutes, depending on the number of areas being exercised and the severity of the injury or condition being monitored. Benefits include: reduced low back pain, increased flexibility, improved posture, healthier breathing and increased strength and muscle tone.
  • Cold Laser Therapy: Cold laser therapy (also called low-level light therapy) uses specific frequencies of light to facilitate healing. A major advantage of cold laser therapy is its ability to penetrate deep into tissues and joints, while also helping conditions closer to the skin surface. It’s painless, and most patients don’t even know it’s happening. The light energy is absorbed by the damaged cell, effectively kick-starting its power plant so it has more energy to devote to repair and healing. The results are less pain and faster healing.
  • Mechanical Intermittent Traction: This therapy decompresses the cervical and lumbar disc and joint areas with a cycling stretching motion to promote an increase of fluids and blood to that area. Not only will this help decompress the area, but it will also promote the body’s natural healing ability.

Therapeutic Exercises:

Patient using equipmentWithout regular exercise, muscles and ligaments weaken, and over time, fibrotic scar tissue develops which changes the elasticity in the supporting muscles. When this happens in the spine, it can lead to uneven wear and tear of the spinal joints, which causes degenerative changes in the disc and other soft tissues.

A program of therapeutic exercises can help slow down this degenerative process and may help to restore tone and balance to these damaged tissues. There are numerous benefits to therapeutic exercises, including:

  • Increases strength and range of motion
  • Retrains damaged muscles
  • Strengthens spinal structures
  • Speeds the healing process
  • Helps you hold your adjustments longer
  • Increases energy
  • Burns fat
