Known as "Dr. Joe," Dr. Joseph Hans is the owner of Hans Chiropractic & Injury Center and a Doctor of Chiropractic (Life University, 1998). A former national-champion bodybuilder, personal trainer, and PE teacher, he brings a lifetime of hands-on experience with the body in motion to the drug-free care of musculoskeletal injuries.
Known as "Dr. Joe," Dr. Joseph Hans has dedicated his life to helping others live a healthier lifestyle. Originally from Columbus, Ohio, he was always involved in athletics and knew early on that he wanted a career in health and fitness.
While in high school, he began bodybuilding to improve his performance in football and wrestling. At 19 he placed third in the Teenage Mr. America competition, and over the years he won or placed in more than 25 bodybuilding shows across the country — including the NPC, the Florida Bodybuilding Championships, and Mr. Eastern America, plus overall wins at the New York State Gold Cup and the NGA (National Gym Association), earning a national championship in 1985.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from the State University of New York at Cortland. After completing his teaching degree, he moved to Atlanta and worked in schools as a PE teacher and personal trainer.
Dr. Joe went on to earn his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Life University in Marietta, Georgia, graduating in 1998 while running his own personal-training business. His combined education and experience as a competitive bodybuilder and personal trainer make him an expert in caring for musculoskeletal injuries.
Since opening Hans Chiropractic & Injury Center in 1999, Dr. Joe has helped thousands of people living with acute and chronic pain. He and his bilingual staff specialize in the soft-tissue injuries that follow motor vehicle accidents and sports injuries, and the practice takes an integrative approach — co-managing care with local medical doctors so patients get the best result possible.
Dr. Joe belongs to several local, state, and national chiropractic organizations: the Georgia Chiropractic Association, the American Chiropractic Association, and The Foundation for Wellness Professionals, a non-profit of healthcare professionals who volunteer their time as motivational and keynote speakers. Through it he runs Wellness Days, blood-pressure checks and spinal screenings, and delivers free educational workshops on health topics.
